Justine Winter Found Guilty Of Two Counts Of Homicide
The verdict is in for Justine Winter. She was found guilty of two counts of deliberate homicide Thursday night in Flathead County District Court.
In case you don't remember Justine, she drove her car into oncoming traffic in an apparent suicide attempt and was charged with the deaths of Erin Julie Thompson who was pregnant at the time of the accident and her 13-year-old son who were killed in the crash.
Then to add insult to injury she then sued the estate of the victims. That's right, she sued the victims. I have yet to hear about the outcome of that particular case but it I will keep you updated.
Justine was immediately taken into custody amid an emotional scene that followed a jury’s unanimous verdict delivered at 7 p.m. after about five hours of deliberations.
The verdict came after a nine-day trial that began Jan. 24 with jury selection and ended Thursday with the prosecution and defense providing their closing arguments over the course of nearly four hours.
Winter, who was charged as an adult, is scheduled to be sentenced March 30 at 1:30 p.m. in Flathead County District Court.
The convictions for two counts of deliberate homicide carry maximum penalties of 200 years to life in prison and a $50,000 fine.
